Nippon Shokubai and Bizen Chemical Signed a Joint Development Agreement on Cosmetic Ingredients Utilized Chestnut Skin Extracts

NIPPON SHOKUBAI CO., LTD. (Headquarter: Osaka Chuo-ku, President: Yujiro Goto, hereinafter “Nippon Shokubai”), and BIZEN CHEMICAL CO., LTD. (Headquarter: Okayama Akaiwao-city, President: Tomie Simizu, hereinafter “Bizen Chemical”), signed a joint development agreement on the cosmetic ingredients extracted from chestnut skin. Under this agreement, Nippon Shokubai will start marketing activities of chestnut skin extracts developed by Bizen Chemical in cosmetic area.

Bizen chemical is a production and sales company of drugs, quasi-drugs, functional foods and health care foods. Bizen Chemical mainly produces various kinds of functional extracts and fats that contain effective natural ingredients. Nippon Shokubai and Bizen Chemical agreed to develop the effective natural ingredients cooperatively in the cosmetic use.

As the first step, Nippon Shokubai started joint research of new ingredients for cosmetics by utilizing the chestnut skin extracts produced by Bizen Chemical’s own technologies and, as a result, we found that chestnut skin extract has some characteristic effects as cosmetic ingredients. We will report the results on CITE JAPAN 2019 held at Pacifico YOKOHAMA from May 15th to 17th of 2019.

Nippon Shokubai has set a target at cosmetic ingredients business as one of the new business target areas in the 2nd medium-term business plan, “Reborn Nippon Shokubai 2020 NEXT” started in 2017. Nippon Shokubai aims for early entry to the market with providing cosmetic ingredients to satisfy market needs.
