PT. NIPPON SHOKUBAI INDONESIA (hereinafter \u201cNSI\u201d), the Indonesian subsidiary of NIPPON SHOKUBAI CO., LTD. (Headquarters: Osaka, Japan, President: Kazuhiro Noda, hereinafter \u201cNippon Shokubai\u201d), held a groundbreaking ceremony on August 7, 2025, for the new superabsorbent polymer (\u201cSAP\u201d) plant in Cilegon, Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SAP, one of Nippon Shokubai\u2019s core businesses, has experienced steady growth in demand as a key material for disposable diapers. Nippon Shokubai group has established its SAP production sites in Japan, the U.S, Europe, China and Indonesia, as well as its global supply network. To meet the strong demand growth in Asian region, Nippon Shokubai has decided to further expand the capacity of SAP production, taking advantage of the existing acrylic acid (\u201cAA\u201d) production capacity, the raw material for SAP at NSI (please refer to the News Release dated August 2, 2024).
With this SAP expansion project at NSI, Nippon Shokubai group\u2019s global SAP production capacity will be as below, and Nippon Shokubai group will enhance its position as one of the world\u2019s leading suppliers of SAP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
