{"id":3255,"date":"2026-04-20T10:00:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T01:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shokubai.mediawars.ne.jp\/ja\/?post_type=sustainability&#038;p=3255"},"modified":"2026-04-20T10:00:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T01:00:09","slug":"waste-reduction","status":"publish","type":"sustainability","link":"https:\/\/www.shokubai.co.jp\/en\/sustainability\/environment\/waste-reduction\/","title":{"rendered":"Resource Circulation \/ Waste Reduction"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-my-gutenberg-my-block00 m_ancNav\"><ul class=\"anc_content\"><li><a href=\"#anc01\" title=\"\">Efforts Toward Compliance with Act on Promotion of Resource Circulation for Plastics<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#anc02\" title=\"\">Reducing the Quantity of Waste Sent to Off-site Landfills for Disposal<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#anc03\" title=\"\">Group Data<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Nippon Shokubai Group has established the following statements in its Environmental Protection Policy: \u201cReduce emissions of waste and chemical substances, and promote the recycling and effective use of resources including water resources to contribute to the realization of a Sound Material-Cycle Society.\u201d \u201cActively seek to develop and provide products and technologies that help reduce environmental impact.\u201d Based on this policy, we are systematically promoting resource circulation and waste reduction.<br>Specifically, we are steadily working toward our objectives of reducing the quantity of waste sent to final off-site landfill under our \u201cZero Emissions\u201d initiative, and decreasing the quantity of outsourced waste plastic treatment. In addition, we are collecting, monitoring, and managing data on waste quantities and recycling quantities from each production site within the Group, and are implementing thorough waste separation education to promote effective resource utilization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"anc01\"><strong>Efforts Toward Compliance with Act on Promotion of Resource Circulation for Plastics<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2023, Nippon Shokubai set a target to reduce the quantity of waste plastics outsourced for external processing by 30% by FY2030, using the FY2021 level (2,893 tons) as the baseline. This initiative aims to promote the reduction and recycling of industrial waste from plastic-containing products.<br>In FY2024, the quantity of waste plastic outsourced for external processing was reduced to 1,523 tons\u30fca 47% decrease compared to FY2021. This reduction was achieved through efforts to minimize waste generation during production and to promote material recycling of waste resins and plastic pallets.<br>In FY2025, we reset our FY2030 target to a 50% reduction compared to FY2021 level, and we will further promote the reduction of waste plastic emissions and resource recovery through chemical and material recycling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"anc02\">Reducing the Quantity of Waste Sent to Off-site Landfills for Disposal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Promoting waste reduction is vital among efforts to form a sound material-cycle society. Nippon Shokubai sorts, collects, and recycles waste in addition to making other efforts consistent with our goal of achieving and maintaining zero emissions (quantity of waste sent to off-site landfills for disposal is 0.1% or less of the total quantity of waste).<br>In FY2024, in addition to continuing to rigorously sort and collect and promote recycling, we reduced the quantity  of waste sent to off-site landfills for disposal and maintained zero emissions by improving processes such that they produce less waste, reusing by-products, and treating product residues
