NIPPON SHOKUBAI transfers its production of organic solvent
NIPPON SHOKUBAI CO., LTD. [Headquarters: OSAKA, JAPAN, Representative:Masanori Ikeda, TOKSE:4114.T ] (“NIPPON SHOKUBAI”) announces that NIPPON SHOKUBAI has determined to finish its production of organic solvent based acrylic resins at Suita Plant and to transfer it to Nippon Polymer Industry Co., Ltd. [Headquarters and Plant: Himeji, Hyogo, JAPAN; Representative: Hideyuki Tahara](“NPI”) described as follows.
1. Background
NIPPON SHOKUBAI has been taking actions to achieve its corporate vision, “A chemical company providing new values through innovative technologies” based on its long- term business plan, “TechnoAmenity 2015” started from the fiscal year ended March 31, 2011.
Under the business plan, NIPPON SHOKUBAI thinks that to reinforce its current acryl derivatives business is an important issue. To achieve it, it is necessary to upgrade its position in the acrylic polymers market and to improve its profitability. As a part of it, NIPPON SHOKUBAI made NPI a consolidated subsidiary from April 2011.
For further reinforcement of the acrylic polymer business, NIPPON SHOKUBAI determined to finish its production of organic solvent based acrylic resins at Suita Plant and to transfer it to NPI.

3. Schedule
For the production transfer to NPI, NIPPON SHOKUBAI will unify and abolish the types of products. NIPPON SHOKUBAI will accomplish the above mentioned unification, abolition and production transfer within about one year, and will finish the production at Suita plant. NIPPON SHOKUBAI continues sales activities of the products.
4. Financial impact to NIPPON SHOKUBAI
NIPPON SHOKUBAI continues the production at Suita Plant until the completion of the transfer. This action will make no impact to NIPPON SHOKUBAI’s consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013.
