In October 2023, PT. NIPPON SHOKUBAI INDONESIA (hereinafter “NSI”), the Indonesian subsidiary of NIPPON SHOKUBAI CO., LTD. (Headquarters: Osaka, Japan, President: Kazuhiro Noda, hereinafter “Nippon Shokubai”), entered into an agreement to purchase renewable energy certificates issued by Perusahaan Listrik Negara (the Indonesian state-operated electricity company; hereinafter “PLN”) for 100% of the electricity purchased by NSI. This will enable an annual reduction of 48,000 t-CO2, and is expected to result in an about 24% reduction in NSI’s overall CO2 emissions.

In addition, as part of its efforts to promote the use of renewable energy, NSI installed a solar power generation system in October 2023, with the goal of replacing 96,500 kWh of electricity annually with solar power generation. This will enable an annual reduction of 84 t-CO2. On top of that, in the event of an emergency, the power generated by this system can be used as backup power for emergency power supply equipment.

The Nippon Shokubai Group has set forth Strategic Transformation for Environmental Initiatives in our long-term vision “TechnoAmenity for the future” as we work to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, and this initiative is an aspect of that measure. The Nippon Shokubai Group will continue to provide the materials and solutions that people and society require, while enhancing the value offered to customers and contributing to the realization of a sustainable society.
