Aminoethylated Acrylic Polymer: POLYMENT™ Aminoethylated Acrylic Polymer, Aminated acrylicpolymer

Basic Information

POLYMENT™ is an acrylic polymer containing primary amino group due to the grafting of polyethyleneimine in its side chain. POLYMENT™ is a polyacrylamine that has the features of both polyethyleneimine and acrylic polymer. POLYMENT™ shows high reactivities thanks to its amino group and superior adhesiveness to various base materials.
Cationic acrylic polymers are generally known as being tertiary amine and quaternary amine ammonium polymers, such as dimethylaminoethyl acrylate polymer (DAA) and dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate polymer (DAM). POLYMENT™ is the only cationic acrylic polymer with primary amine in the world.

Manufacturing Method

Using the reactivity of ethyleneimine and the carboxyl groups, acrylic acid copolymers (anionic type) can be easily synthesized into acrylic polymers with primary amines (cationic).

Chemical Structure

Features and Properties

POLYMENT™ is grouped into two types according to its form.
Type one is a water-dilutable resin that can be diluted in water by neutralizing amino groups, and type two is a solvent-based resin that is synthesized under solvent conditions.
Both types have primary amino groups, which gives them excellent reactivity with epoxy resins, and superior adhesion to base materials such as plastics and metals, etc.

  1. POLYMENT™ NK-100PM, NK-200PM
These products are water-soluble and have a structure of polymer surfactants, so enable to emulsify and disperse epoxy resins .These features of POLYMENT™ provide a long usage time and the ability to reduce solvents. The coating films obtained from reactivity with epoxy resins have excellent normal (room) temperature curing and adhesion properties, and superior weatherability.
  2. POLYMENT™ NK-350, NK-380
These products have excellent adhesion to various base materials and superior reactivity with epoxy, which make them useful as primers and adhesives. Specifically, NK-350 is suited as a primer for OPP and PET films, adhesive tapes, dicing tapes, and textiles, etc., and as an adhesive for laminated steel plates/PVF. NK-380 can be used to prevent the migration of PVC film plasticizers, etc.
