NISSHOKU TECHNO FINE CHEMICAL CO., LTD.

Principal business	Manufacture and sale of (meth)acrylic acid derivatives and photo/electro chemicals

In FY2025, all departments continued Responsible Care (RC) initiatives; however, in September, an occupational injury occurred in which a worker who developed heatstroke during indoor filling operations was urgently transported to hospital. In light of the extremely high temperatures in recent years, we reaffirmed that, in addition to individual health management, communication among workers and between workers and supervisors is more important than ever from the perspective of heatstroke prevention. At the same time, it became clear that measures relying on individual awareness and actions—such as safety reminders and encouragement of hydration—have inherent limitations. This case provided an opportunity to review equipment, rules, and the overall working environment in order to establish systems that are less dependent on individual judgment or operational discretion.
In the area of environmental protection, we have newly introduced an initiative to reduce sludge volume at wastewater treatment facilities through the use of bio-based agents. Proper treatment of wastewater generated during business activities is essential to ensuring both the continuity of stable operations and environmental protection. Through this initiative, we aim to maintain the stable operation of wastewater treatment facilities while seeking to reduce waste generation and energy consumption, thereby contributing to the reduction of environmental impact.
In the area of process safety and disaster prevention, we continued to conduct a comprehensive emergency drill in FY2025. In addition to scenario-based training, a partly unannounced drill was incorporated, enabling us to identify detailed issues—such as methods for confirming information during unexpected events—that are difficult to recognize through conventional drills.

NISSHOKU BUTSURYU CO., LTD.

Principal business	Logistics of chemicals

The Nisshoku Butsuryu Group positions “providing environment-friendly, safe, and high-quality logistics services for chemicals and contributing to society through its RC initiatives” as its key management policy. Both the reduction of GHG emissions as part of our environmental impact reduction efforts and the implementation of risk prediction activities, the proper operation of advanced operation information systems, and the introduction of advanced safety vehicles equipped with features such as advanced emergency braking systems as part of our efforts to achieve zero accidents and injuries are being addressed as top-priority initiatives.
We also worked on the following priority issues: prevention of environmental disasters and accidents, promotion of energy consumption reduction and resource conservation, prevention of accidents with vehicle equipment, prevention of chemical transportation/handling issues, and promotion of white logistics.

NIPPOH CHEMICALS CO., LTD.

Principal business	Manufacture and sale of iodine, iodine compounds, raw materials for pharmaceuticals and pesticides, and natural gas

In FY2025, in line with the Second RC Medium-Term Plan, we implemented a wide range of initiatives.
In the area of occupational safety and health, we focused on thoroughly promoting basic safety behaviors, and achieved zero injuries with or without lost workdays. In particular, we have continued the “Workplace Safety Declaration” initiative, which aims to enhance safety awareness through mutual communication among colleagues working in the same workplace. In FY2025 as well, posters featuring group photos from each workplace together with their safety declarations were created, contributing to safety culture development.
In addition, starting in FY2025, we newly established a committee for process safety and disaster prevention to systematically manage preparedness for fires, leaks, explosions, and natural disasters. Under the leadership of this committee, and with guidance from the local fire department, we conducted a fire drill that, for the first time, involved the use of a large fire extinguisher, with the aim of improving initial response capabilities and ensuring appropriate actions in the event of a fire.
In the area of environmental protection, we are promoting initiatives to reduce GHG emissions. The renewal of the cogeneration facilities (scheduled to commence operation in November 2027) is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 3,000 tons per year, representing a significant step toward achieving the FY2030 targets.
Guided by the corporate credo that “Safety takes priority over production,” we will continue to promote RC initiatives with the participation of all employees.

NIPPON NYUKAZAI CO., LTD.

Principal business	Manufacture and sale of surfactant and other chemicals

In FY2025, the 6th RC Promotion Basic Plan (2025–2027) was launched.  In addition to ongoing issues carried over through the 5th Plan, initiatives are being advanced across all areas to address newly identified issues based on the evaluation and reflection of the 5th Plan.
In the area of occupational safety and health, an analysis of past cases of occupational injuries identified common issues, including overlooked hazards in specific tasks and insufficient task risk assessment. In response, “comprehensive identification, evaluation, and risk reduction of hazardous operation” was set as a key focus area, and initiatives are being promoted to enhance awareness of potential hazards in daily operations.
In the area of quality, we improved procedures and work instructions and provided training based on past cases. In addition, we launched quality-related activities based on risk assessments using methods that systematically analyze the underlying causes of quality issues. Furthermore, with the aim of strengthening the management system for metal impurity control and improving knowledge, the Technical Research Division conducted lectures at the Kawasaki Site and Kashima Plant on fundamental concepts and key points related to metal impurity management.
In the area of communication with society, the Kawasaki Site participated in the “18th Kawasaki International Eco-Tech Fair,” deepening exchanges with local companies. In addition, we took part in the city-sponsored environmental outreach program, giving lessons that introduced our products as practical examples for high school students.
Going forward, we will continue to prioritize safe operations and further enhance our RC initiatives.

TOKYO FINE CHEMICAL CO., LTD.

Principal business	Manufacture and sale of antiseptics, antifungal agents, disinfectants, brine, stabilizers of vinyl chloride resins, etc.

In the area of occupational safety and health, we continued to implement various safety initiatives with the objective of maintaining zero occupational injuries, following the previous fiscal year. As a result, we also achieved zero occupational injuries in FY2025. Going forward, we will continue to promote safety activities on an ongoing basis by collecting and analyzing near miss cases, conducting KY activities^*1, and carrying out task risk assessments for hazardous operations, while striving to maintain zero occupational injuries.
In the area of environmental protection, we conducted a detailed review and investigation of the rainwater drainage routes within the plant. Previously, the flow of rainwater was not sufficiently understood, making it difficult to promptly identify and trace the dispersion routes of leaked materials in the event of a chemical substance release. As a result, this led to issues such as delays in situation assessment, appropriate decision-making, and initial response.
Through this investigation, the rainwater drainage routes within the plant were clarified, significantly improving the accuracy of risk assessments in the event of a leak. This improvement enables the rapid identification of affected areas and the formulation and implementation of appropriate responses, thereby enhancing overall plant safety and strengthening our environmental protection framework.
We will continue to promote RC initiatives on a company-wide basis and further enhance our initiatives in both safety and environmental protection.

CHUGOKUKAKO CO., LTD.

Principal business	Manufacture and sale of adhesive-processed products and fine sphere particles

In FY2025, two injuries without lost workdays (chemical burns/pinch injuries) occurred. As both incidents were partly caused by complacency arising from the assumption that “there had been no problems before,” we recognized the need to return to basic principles. In response, we will reinforce basic safety behaviors, including “think before you act” and “pointing and calling,” as well as strengthen our task risk assessment and near miss analysis^*1, while striving to enhance each employee’s sensitivity to potential hazards.
Furthermore, under our new management policies, we place “Safety First” as our top priority and are committed to building a work environment in which all employees can work free from anxiety, through the promotion of 5S activities^*2 and the thorough enforcement of compliance.
Additionally, four employees were honored as Outstanding Employees by the Kurashiki Chamber of Commerce and Industry in recognition of their long-standing contributions. Encouraged by this honor, we will continue our efforts to improve safety and quality, as well as to contribute to the local community.

1. Near miss analysis: Reflecting on near misses in daily operations to identify why they occurred and how they could have been avoided, and implementing safety measures in terms of both facilities and behavior.
2. 5S activities: Promoting and practicing the 5S: sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain.

NIPPON POLYMER INDUSTRIES CO., LTD.

Principal business	Manufacture and sale of acrylic resins

The prevention of accidents and operational troubles is regarded as a key management priority, and safety-enhancement initiatives are promoted as part of RC initiatives.
As one such initiative, we conducted hands-on forklift safety training led by an external instructor, with the aim of preventing the recurrence of minor forklift-related incidents. In addition to our own employees, employees of contractors who operate forklifts within our premises also participated in the training.
The program covered not only driving techniques but also highlighted how daily preparedness, including appropriate work attire and safety awareness, can influence safe behavior. The training provided valuable perspectives that are difficult to gain internally and served as an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of safety. We plan to continue providing similar training on an annual basis.
In addition, in response to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015, we made a declaration under the Himeji City SDGs Declaration (a local SDGs declaration program) for eight selected goals. The Himeji City SDGs Declaration Document prepared by our company is publicly available on the Himeji City website.
Going forward, we will continue to prioritize safety and work together with our employees and contractors to further advance our RC initiatives.
